The Third Eye Chakra

The name of this chakra is Ajna which means to perceive. The 6th chakra is either purple or indigo in color. It is located in between the eyebrows. The center is associated with the pineal gland which is located in the middle of the brain. The center is associated with the wisdom to see beyond the Earth realm and related to the intellectual mind. The center is how we connect with our deeper self, intuition, and perception of our lives. This is the realm of past lives, the subconscious, astral travel, and extrasensory perception. The center is also associated with sleeping patterns and dreaming.

Out of Balance Third Eye

When the chakra is out of balance a person may experience sleeping difficulties, headaches, ear and eye problems. They can experience anxiety and depression, have hallucinations or delusions, have trouble concentrating, have nightmares, and have obsessive thoughts. Often these people are not very imaginative and can only see one side of a situation. They often don’t learn from their mistakes and set their goals very low.

Tips for balancing the third eye include meditation on the space in between the eyebrows. Art and self-hypnosis can be helpful to balance this Center.  Also it’s important to get enough sleep, especially between the hours of 1 and 4 in the morning.
